one of my not-so-secret weapons: WomanCode

You may or may not know this, but I wouldn’t be doing the creative and coaching work I do today if it weren’t for a chance introduction to Alisa Vitti 7 years ago. I came to her feeling lost and depressed, having been on the birth control pill for 5 years and diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) that left me with no options for healing (other than medication) according to traditional medicine. I had moved to NYC to become a ballerina, but I was working at a desk job and feeling miserable. Something had to change and so I started by looking into my health.

The work I did with Alisa in her program at FLO Living shifted my reality. Through getting off the pill, learning how to eat to support my hormonal patterns, and opening up to a whole new world of feminine energy, I started on a journey back to my self. The same year I did a program with Alisa was the same year I quit my day job and registered at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition (IIN) to become a health coach.

I think there was a karmic connection between Alisa and I that continued the relationship - something told me there was more that needed to be done. And so I emailed her and soon after started interning and apprenticing under her. After graduating at IIN, I began seeing clients through FLO Living because the women’s health work was so essential to my own healing process.

alisa and jessOver these past 7 years, I’ve had the pleasure and honor of helping hundreds of women get in their “FLO,” of developing my own skills as a coach and teacher, and of helping Alisa birth and rebirth her company in various stages, while along the way learning that it was time for me to birth something of my own (Creative Fridays!). I’m beyond grateful to have shared so much of my journey with her and to have witnessed hers unfold so powerfully, and to continue to do both. As I get ready to watch her do her thing on the Dr. Oz Show today, I’m filled with joy and amazement of what is possible when you follow your dreams.

I deeply believe that every woman - and man! - should own a copy of Alisa’s book WomanCode - not only because it will help you fall in love with your body and biochemistry in a whole new way - but because it will provide you with the foundation of health necessary to create what you desire in the world. And as you know, I’m all about the creativity ;)

Of course I can’t speak for everyone, but I know for myself that if I was still on the pill and still disconnected from my body’s reality, I would certainly not be creating the art and work that I am today.
