Commercial Choreographer in NYC for Brands, Ads, & Social Content

Custom choreography for brand videos, campaigns, product launches, and flash mob activations across New York City, New Jersey and remote shoots.

I'm Jess Grippo, a choreographer based right across the Hudson in Bayonne, NJ, creating dance for brands, agencies and production companies throughout New York City. I've been making dance for the camera for over a decade, starting with homemade videos in my room long before TikTok existed. I've also spent that decade writing marketing for 85+ businesses. So you get movement that looks great on screen and actually serves the brief.

What I choreograph

  • Brand videos and commercials. Choreography that tells the product story in 15, 30 or 60 seconds.

  • Social content. TikTok, Reels and Shorts routines built around your product, plus creator and influencer campaigns that need a dance people want to copy.

  • Flash mobs and brand activations. Pop-ups, product launches and street moments in NYC, designed for the crowd in front of you and the camera filming it.

  • Branded content and music videos. Concept, movement and on-set direction.

  • Launch events and employee videos. Opening numbers and company videos featuring people who don't dance for a living.

How a project works

  1. Brief call. We talk goals, audience, platforms, cast and the moment you want people to share.

  2. Concept and music. You get a movement concept tied to your campaign message, with music options you can customize.

  3. Choreography and reference video. I send a reference video and counts so your director and videographer know every hit before the shoot.

  4. Rehearsal. I teach your cast, whether that's pro dancers, talent or your own team. If you need dancers, I can help source a cast for the right project.

  5. Shoot or live day. I direct movement on set or on location and adjust for the shot in real time.

Why brands and producers hire me

I make non-dancers look like naturals. I've spent over ten years teaching adults who haven't danced in years through Dance Again, and I taught three comedians with zero experience on the reality show Knowledge Daddies. Talent, influencers and employees learn fast with me and look confident on camera.

I think like a marketer. Through my agency, Words That Dance, I've shaped messaging and content strategy for 85+ businesses. I choreograph toward the campaign goal: the hook, the product moment, the share.

I know how dance reads on a phone. My dance videos were made for the internet from day one, and one was screened at Lincoln Center's Dance on Camera Festival.

I've already staged a viral NYC flash mob. I co-led and organized the #SaveTheOA flash mob in Manhattan. The video has over 1.1 million views on YouTube and was covered by Vulture, and my tutorials teaching the routine to fans have another 330,000+ views. Strangers learned the choreography from a screen and performed it in public.

FAQ

How much does a commercial choreographer cost in NYC? Pricing depends on prep and rehearsal days, shoot days, cast size and how the content will be used. I quote per project after a short brief call. For paid ads and broad usage, rates reflect the usage term, which is standard in the commercial industry.

Can you choreograph for people who aren't dancers? Yes, and it's my specialty. I build choreography around what your cast can do well, then teach it so they look confident and natural on camera.

Do you provide dancers? It depends on the project. I can help source dancers from my NYC network, or teach your own talent, influencers or employees. We'll find the best fit on our brief call.

How far in advance should we book? Two to four weeks works for most social and brand video projects. Flash mobs and live activations with larger casts need four to six weeks for casting and rehearsal. Ask about rush timelines.

Can you work with our director, videographer or production company? Yes. I send reference video and counts ahead of time, plan movement around camera angles, and direct the dance on set so your crew can focus on the shot.

Do you choreograph flash mobs in NYC? Yes. I design flash mobs for brand activations, pop-ups and launches across Manhattan and Brooklyn, and I work with your producer on location, timing and permit needs.

Where do you work? New York City, northern New Jersey and the tri-state area in person. For shoots elsewhere, I can create and teach choreography remotely by video.

Do you offer dance classes for company teams? For ongoing employee wellness programs, see Dance Again corporate memberships. This page covers choreography for marketing and content.
