balance? really?

last week:

poolside dance-video-making with a 10-year-old, lots of gluten filled foods, a few pina coladas, Jersey accents galore, pushing a wheelchair up and down the boardwalk, writing an instagram post influenced by my PMS, lots of sleep.

this week:

in-office dance facilitation for a group of women business owners, lots of flax seeds, a few matcha lattes, 3 networking events, many hours of focused work time, writing out new program content and this blog post, could use more sleep.

Some might say that balance is about having everything you need in one day: the right amount of sleep, the right amount of work, the right amount of exercise.

That’s never worked for me.

Some days (or weeks or months or years) will have hustling on heavy rotation. Others, sleep. Some phases will have you pulling your hair out from frustration or overwhelm or not knowing what the hell to focus on first. Others, flow.

Wherever you are, know it won’t last forever and you don’t have to try so hard to get balance now. Life creates balance for us if we just let it.

Especially for all us creative beings in this world, let’s trust in the cycles and know that the fallow periods are just fertilizing future growth - and vice versa. We need all the phases, not just the productive ones.
